The hunter awoke early in the morn,
To hunt down a buck, father of two just born.
But the buck, smarter than the hunter still,
Moves his family from the kill.
But the hunter, smarter yet,
Has a dog, named Old Bet
The dog hasn’t hunted in many a year,
Isn’t ready to trail the deer.
Running through the water and brush,
But then they stop with a hush.
The doe listened, what had she heard?
Was it a man, dog or bird?
Suddenly, there was a shot, the family turned and ran,
For they feared this old man.
Who, with his dog and his gun,
Chased the deer just for fun.
But this family ran for life,
The buck, his children, and his wife.
It was unfair!
Life to fun, but little did this man care.
Finally they found a place to hide,
The man gave up, not one had died.
